In 2006, this 19th-century manse, originally built as the headquarters of Dresdener Bank, was transformed by Rocco Forte into a grand and sumptuous affair. All 146 rooms are state-of-the-art if somewhat generic plush, with plenty of polished wood, marble and velvet. The former basement vault now houses a pool, spa and gym. The lobby restaurant, Parioli, specialises in Mediterranean cuisine, with al fresco dining in summer, and lighter fare is available in the sleek Bebel Bar & Lounge or the Opera Court, where afternoon tea is served.
