OSTEL Das DDR Design Hostel review Rate it
The owners scoured Germany for the original wallpaper, furniture, lamps, radios and clocks that decorate this cheeky six-floor homage to communist-era design. There are 33 rooms, each with its own bathroom, and the hotel also has an apartment that sleeps up to six in DDR style just a few streets away at Andreasstrasse 20. The hostel shop sells East German items such as plastic egg cups and official portraits of former head of state Erich Honecker.
