In a historic building with one of Berlin's prettiest courtyards, is this lovely hotel. The 22 exquisitely styled rooms are airy and elegant, the staff are charming, and Thomas Kurt, chef at the restaurant, e.t.a. hoffmann, was highly praised in 2008's Gault Millau guide. Although the location is somewhat off the beaten track, the neighbourhood has many charms of its own, with Victoria Park and Bergmanstrasse's shops and cafés nearby.
