Berlin's most famous hotel, and the well-aged mother of all Kempinskis, was first a celebrated restaurant before being rebuilt in its present form in 1951. While the rooms aren't as plush as you might expect at these prices, the generally grand atmosphere, friendly staff, original Berlin artwork and wonderful pool and saunas make up for it. A new restaurant, Reinhard's, has added a regional menu to the proceedings.
