After the Soviets took Berlin, they commandeered this former German officers' club as HQ for the military administration and it was here, on the night of 8-9 May 1945, that German commanders signed the unconditional surrender, ending the war in Europe. The museum looks at the German-Soviet relationship over 70 years. Divided into 16 rooms, including the one where the Nazis surrendered, it takes us through two world wars and one cold one, plus assorted pacts, victories and capitulations.
