Brecht's home from 1948 until his death in 1953 has been preserved exactly as he left it. Tours of the house (phone in advance for an English one) give interesting insights into the life and reading habits of the playwright. The window at which he worked overlooked the grave of Hegel in the neighbouring cemetery. Brecht's wife, actress Helene Weigel, continued living here until her death in 1971. The Brecht archives are kept upstairs. The Kellerrestaurant near the exit servesViennese dishes as cooked by Weigel; see Kellerrestaurant im Brecht-Haus.
