Berlin's top team have repeatedly been touted as title contenders at the beginning of the season only to disappoint with hot-and-cold performances and mid-table placings in the Bundesliga. In 2008, they launched an advertising campaign, ostensibly to demonstrate their allegiance to the capital but in fact clearly aimed at wooing more supporters from Eastern districts. They play at the Olympiastadion in the city's far West.
