Onyx Hotel review

A tasteful bolthole in what was a style wasteland by major sports/performance venue TD Banknorth Garden - with one exception. The 'Britney Spears Foundation room' is a replica of the pop singer's bedroom, designed by her mother Lynne and decked out with framed platinum records and a minibar stocked with her favourite snacks; 10% of the rate goes to the troubled pop princess's charity. Britney's boudoir aside, the small rooms are decorated with clean, elegant lines and a bold red, black and taupe colour scheme. It may be short on space, but the Onyx doesn't skimp on style or service. Top-of-the-line amenities are in abundant supply, from featherdown pillows to wireless internet access and video games. In-room spa services are available at an extra charge, and there's a complimentary early evening wine hour in the lobby. The daringly designed - more bright red in the curving banquette - Ruby Room café and bar is a cosy hangout if you're too lazy to venture out to the plethora of pubs and bars around the lively North Station area.
