Boston's major outdoor venue (4,994 capacity) is pleasantly located in the South Boston waterfront area. It operates from May to September, featuring mainly mainstream rock, pop and R&B oldies, with a sprinkling of more contemporary acts. The Pavilion is basically a large tent, usually all seated, with an extensive concourse at the rear. Many gig-goers prefer to buy the cheaper concourse tickets, so that they can party at the back.
