America's oldest restaurant, established in 1826, may be targeted at tourists - as is every establishment within a block of Faneuil Hall - but as long as you turn a blind eye to the gift shop, the wooden booths and whitewashed walls beyond manage to project some sense of authenticity. The Yankee cooking, not so much. Stick with the historic wooden raw bar, where affable shuckers will ply you with Blue Points and cherrystones - best paired, of course, with a pint or two.
