L'Espalier review

Marriage proposals and six-figure deals are par for the course at chef-owner Frank McClelland's New French New England legend. Make that par for seven courses, rather: the main menu is a prix-fixe degustation, breathtaking in its creativity, scope, execution and, of course, asking price. Served in a posh, intimate brownstone by hyper-attentive waiters, it has no local equal - and the cellar wine director Erik Johnson has built is tremendous too. At the time of going to press, a move to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, opening on Boylston Street in 2008, was on the cards.
