Five Horses Tavern - Davis Square

It’s not that Davis Square suffered for want of watering holes, but the addition of Five Horses Tavern filled an unrecognized void. The spacious, craft beer-centric bar has 37 rotating drafts, including many regional finds, and more than 130 bottles (did we mention there’s also a fireplace?). Start with a seasonal stout before moving on to the impressive whiskey and thoughtful cocktail menus—pitchers of sangria are a must when those front windows get flung open. The food menu is a smorgasbord of comfort fare, from soft pretzels and wings to tacos and ribs. Those on the other side of the river should check out the second, smaller outpost in the South End.
