Laid out by celebrated French landscaper Charles Thays and inaugurated in 1898, BA's botanical garden is a slightly shabby but nonetheless tranquil space, full of fascinating flora. Thousands of species flourish here, and fountains, orchids, cacti, ferns and spectacular trees makes this a paradise for anyone who likes to potter around a garden.
Monuments include a Venus, Saturnalia and Romulus and Remus. Check out the old stagers playing cards and chess for money on the adjacent square. And if for any reason you need a dozen stray cats in a hurry, this is the place to come.
