Every weekend (Saturday evenings in summer, Sunday afternoons the rest of the year) restaurants lay out tables under the arcade of the 100-year-old administration building of the Mercado Nacional de Hacienda, a massive livestock market where cows and sheep are corralled for auction. On the southern spoke of Lisandro de la Torre, brilliant horsemen take each other on at spearing the sortija - a small ring dangling on a ribbon - while standing high on criollo-breed horses.
