There are few buildings in Buenos Aires that would merit a listing in this section despite being closed for renovation work, but this world-renowned opera house is one of them. With its regular lines and tempered classicism, the Colón is one of Buenos Aires' key architectural as well as cultural landmarks. Go peer through the scaffolding - and then come back in late 2008 to enjoy the experience.
