    Time Out Chicago / Issue 133 : Sep 13–19, 2007
    Get High

Check out a theater matinee at 4:20

    By TOC staff

    1Blue Man Group
This is the granddaddy of trippy theater. I mean, those guys? They’re all blue. And they’d probably join in your drum circle. Briar Street Theatre, 3133 N Halsted St (773-348-4000). Thu 8pm; Fri 7pm; Sat 4, 7, 10pm; Sun 1, 4pm.; $49–$59. Open run.

    2The Book of Liz
The Talent Family (that’s Strangers wWith Candy star Amy Sedaris and her bro, New Yorker essay guy David) co-wrote an off-the-wall play about a nun with a sweating condition and an unmatchable recipe for cheese balls. Might as well be potmagic brownies. Cornservatory, 4210 N Lincoln Ave (800-838-3006). Thu–Sat 8pm; Sun 5pm;. $12–$18. Runs through Sept 30.

    3That’s Weird, Grandma
If you’re baked on a Monday night (niiiiice, bro!), hit up this show, where they act out stories written by actual kids, which is hilarious but also superprofound, y’know? Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N Ashland Ave (312-409-1954). Mon 8pm,. $10. Open run.

    4Soiree DADA
As long as you’re not the paranoid type, check out this WNEP play. Just be careful—those white-faced DADA dudes can stare right into your soul. Chicago Cultural Center, Studio Theater, 77 E Randolph St (312-742-8497). Thu–Sat 7:30pm; Sun 3pm.; $20. Runs through Oct 14.

    5Manos: Rock Opera of Fate
The worst movie ever made (seriously, Entertainment Weekly said so) and one of the best episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, this movie gets the musical treatment from the dudes behind Shakesploitation and Cubicle: An Office Space Musical. Kill! Kill! Kill! Manos has decreed it! National Pastime Theater, 4139 N Broadway St (312-458-9083). Fri, –Sat 10:30pm,. $15. Runs Sept 28–Nov 3.
