    Time Out Chicago / Issue 154 : Feb 7–13, 2008
    The dating issue

    Date Lisa

    Lisa Thompson, 34
Ravenswood, executive director of a nonprofit agency

Excerpts from Lisa’s date have been posted! See how the date went by clicking here.

While the rest of us wish for our dream career, Lisa is living hers. This Wheaton native quit her fund-raising job seven years ago to run a small nonprofit called Blue Sky Inn (blueskyinn.org), an organization that provides arts programming and job training to homeless youth. Impressive, but we also love the fact that Lisa listens when you talk, isn’t afraid to look you straight in the eye and makes a mean scone. In return, she’s looking for a guy who shares her interests (cooking, reading, indie films and The Daily Show), isn’t all about money and, may we add, will appreciate her beautiful smile. Bonus points if you’re the easygoing, hand-holding, public radio–listening type.

Says David Tamarkin, Eat Out/Drink Up writer “Lisa can talk about books but also keep up at the bar. She knows when a situation calls for compassion or sarcasm, and has her heart in the right place.”

    In her own words

If I were to record an album of covers, these five songs would be on it “I Don’t Blame You,” Cat Power; “Into the Open,” Heartless Bastards; “On the Radio,” Regina Spektor; “Start a War,” the National; “Art Star,” Yeah Yeah Yeahs

My last ex and I Broke up a year ago. I’ve stayed friends with most exes, but that’s not easy. Someone inevitably has second thoughts about the breakup, and then you end up playing Trivial Pursuit to avoid talking.

If I were Daley, I would change The Olympics, transportation, homeless youth services, public schools, police brutality, property taxes.

If I were a Chicago restaurant I would be A cross between Lula Café and Hot Doug’s because they value substance over flash

You will love going on a date with me because If you have forgotten your wallet and can’t afford to pay for our dinner, I won’t mind having to escape through the bathroom window.
