The TOC Funniest Person in Chicago Contest
Send us your funniest video (hint: not your "Chocolate Rain" parody) for a chance at prizes and a live performance.

Sure, you’re a riot at every board meeting, but it’s time to set your comedy sights a little higher. If you think you’ve got what it takes to win our first Funniest Person in Chicago Contest, send a three- to five-minute clip (in QuickTime or Windows Media Player format, or as a link to a YouTube video) of you doing something humorous by 5pm Sunday, October 14 to comedycontest@timeoutchicago.com, or mail to 247 S State St., 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60604. It can be straight stand-up, a wacky song or an impression of your goldfish. Anything is fair game as long as (a) it’s funny and (b) it can be re-created live (save your fancy editing tricks for the big screen, Coppola). We’ll then narrow the field to six contestants that will face-off at the Lakeshore Theater on Sunday, October 28, with each contestant performing a live 10-minute routine.

The winner walks away with a sweet prize package, including:
Participation in a year-long comedy mentoring program at the Lakeshore Theater, which will bring our talented winner through all the stages of comedic development, from squirming neophyte to seasoned pro. The class culminates in an opening set at the Lakeshore Theater in front of a major comedy performer (to be determined).
The mentorship program will include:
- Workshops with seasoned comedy professionals including members of Upright Citizen Brigade and The Aristocrats director Paul Provenza
- Chaperoned, dues-paying excursions to comedy club open mics
- A year’s worth of free tickets to Lakeshore events
- A chance to hang out with Lakeshore headliners
- Conditional: If at the end of the year the mentee has proven him/herself worthy, they will get a chance to headline their very own Lakeshore Theater show
- A pair of tickets to A Barrel of Monkey's production of That's Weird Grandma.
And if that’s not enough, we’re also throwing in:
One year of representation with Chicago’s own Ambassador Talent. Established in 1983, Ambassador has been a leading force in the entertainment industry specializing in major motion films, commercials, voiceovers, and print.
