Answer: a. Chicagoans who lost their jobs in the Great Depression expressed gratitude to the mob boss for establishing a place where they could get three free meals a day. Known as the Free Lunch Restaurant, the kitchen opened as part of a massive publicity campaign Capone launched in order to sway the working man to see him as a benefactor, not a fabulously wealthy crime lord.
