Phil Kosch, guitarist for local indie pop-rock band Treaty of Paris and talent buyer/booking agent at Double Door
“What Double Door does really well is it supports all the music scenes in Chicago. Five years down the road, I still see it doing the same thing. But it’s so hard to predict what music is going to come through. I just know in the last five years I’ve seen nu-metal or stuff like Disturbed doing well; and two years after that we were bringing in poppy rock & roll like Kaiser Chiefs. I think in the next five-year period you’re going to see some U.K. band that’s [practicing in a] garage right now and sounds like the Clash sell out Double Door, and then an old-school metal band that sounds like Slayer might come out of nowhere. It seems like every two years, different types of bands are doing well at Double Door and then growing into [playing at] Metro and then maybe growing even bigger.”
