You’re going to want to visit the Field Museum before you head to Wine Enthusiast’s Toast of the Town. Because while the tasting—organized by one of the country’s most prestigious wine magazines-—does indeed take place in the museum’s majestic lobby, you’ll be far too distracted by the 500 wines on offer to take in any of the exhibits.-—May 1

It’s safe to assume that everybody who’s attending ZAP’s Zinfandel Grand Tasting, thrown by the California-based Zinfandel Advocates & Producers, is equally smitten with the bold, inky reds. With that in mind, you’ll want to show up at this event as early as you can and head straight for the most coveted brands (Ridge Vineyards comes to mind). Once you’ve gotten those crowded booths out of the way, moseying through the less-popular vineyards will be a breeze.-—May 20

While Chicago Botanic Garden Wine Festival won’t be taking place in the midst of rare flowers and plants (it’s located near the entrance, before the gardens properly begin), a glass or so will still heighten your flower-gazing experience. Here’s how we recommend you do it: Start at the Mionetto stand and pick up a glass of prosecco. Sip on it while you make your way to the organic wine of Bonterra Vineyards. Now, two glasses in and thoroughly relaxed, head to the English Gardens and take a long nap. —June 7–8
