For TOC’s third annual photo contest, we asked readers to show us examples of Chicagoans “Getting There” by any means possible. You sent us more than 400 entries, covering everything from bike messengers scouring the city to a Barbie doll waiting to board a bus. We chose eight shots that best show how people around here stay on the move.

Photo Gallery: Take a look at some of our other favorite submissions to the photo contest in this gallery.

    First place | Todd Winters

Really cool picture, Stephanie; CONGRATS!! I enjoyed all of the photos. They showed sides of Chicago that I really don't get to see when I'm there every year for the NRA show. Thanks!

Kudos Stephanie! What a unique image. I know this bus stop well... Pixxa is leaving the Museum of Science and Industry. As the academic season resumes, I hope the younger Barbie fans will embrace the sciences too. Hmm, an image that is fun, original and socially aware - Way To Go!!!

WooHoo! I recognize Pixxa, the world famous travel doll... AND I recognize my old favorite bus line, the #55 Garfield! Many a morning spent on a cold corner waiting for a #55 to get me to school on time. (My favorite pic by far.) Steph-a-nie Tatum, you are a ROCK STAR!!!! :-) BarbJ

Because ST is a friend of mine, I am biased would agree without looking at the other pics this shot should have won 1st Place. And just think, I would talk about ST taking pictures of one or more of her many Barbies when we (real grown folk) would go to different outings, including but not limited to eating pizza, going to the movies and to the museum, and just anywhere. WAY TO GO STEPH!!!

This is a clever shot of Barbie catching the bus! I think this picture should have won first place! Good work Ms. Tatum!
