The Love Guru
June 20
Between this and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, is insensitivity the new sensitivity? Mike Myers stars as India’s “second-best guru,” an American raised abroad who returns to North America to work as a relationship pooh-bah. His primary task is to play marriage therapist for the star of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who needs to be in good psychological shape for the playoffs. Looks like we’re in for lots of self-conscious ethnic humor offset by self-conscious height-based humor, considering the presence of Verne Troyer. Directed by Marco “No Relation to the Dude in Pajamas” Schnabel.
CLOWN OPINION
Kooky Da Klown (a.k.a. Eric Washington), Kooky Da Klown Enterprises (866-459-0858, kookydaklown.1hwy.com)Equal parts clown, face painter, magician and balloon sculptor, Kooky has been head clown of Kooky Da Klown Enterprises for more than eight years. Hailing straight from “Bozoville,” Kooky is a second-generation entertainer.
Reasons to be hopeful “I love [Myers’s] characters, especially Austin Powers. This movie seems to be in the style of Austin Powers with lots of one-liners, so I think it’s going to be very funny.”
Possible pitfalls “I don’t see any. This seems to keep the same pace and feel of other Mike Myers movies. I feel good about that.”
Mike Myers’s clown name? “Forever Funny Mike”
