Fantastic Four - The Roger Corman Version
Here’s a case of being careful what you wish for: This version of the Fantastic Four story (produced by schlockmeister Roger Corman) was filmed so the studio that owned the rights to make a movie based on the Marvel characters could retain those rights in the future. But in order to do that, they needed to start filming by a certain date. So they slapped together this mess, and didn’t tell the cast or the crew that it would never see the light of day.
Consequently, The Thing looks like a cobra, Dr. Doom has Freddy Krueger fingers, and Mr. Fantastic’s limbs resemble dryer ducts. For years, fans cried out for a real Fantastic Four film.
Eleven years later, they were given Jessica Alba as Sue Storm. Sometimes it’s better to just be thankful for what you have.
