You’d have to be living under a rock to miss the frozen-yogurt trend. Here’s our take on who’s best, plus a couple other new frozen treats on the scene.

The scoop After a trip to Florence for frozen-yogurt sampling, 21-year-old Kim Smith decided Chicago needed a fro-yo shop with a similar modern aesthetic and opened this Lincoln Park spot a month ago.
The skinny One ounce contains 3 grams of carbs, 21 calories and 0 fat.
The verdict Smith says her fro-yo is sweetened only with “natural sugar,” but there’s a slightly chemical taste up front. The tart-to-sweet ratio is about even, meaning it’s less tart than the competition, and the texture is somewhat icier, almost like soft-serve sorbet.

TIP: Vegans and the lactose-intolerant will find four flavors of dairy-free Wisconsin’s Chocolate Shoppe ice cream

  After reading about them in this week's TOC, I stopped by the Wow Bao at State and Lake... no frozen yogurt on the menu and when I asked about it I was faced with blank stares.
