    Time Out Chicago / Issue 166 : May 1–7, 2008
    Just opened

    Angels & Mariachis

    Photo: Shmura Campbell

THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD Until now, the boys at Eat Well Drink Better have kept their projects relegated to the North Side. It made sense, because that’s where their style of bars (sanctuaries of light beer and Rob Thomas tunes like the Central, Grand Central and Union Park) fits in best. So does the fact that their new bar, Angels & Mariachis, is in Wicker Park say more about the company or the neighborhood? On one hand, the Mexico-themed “rock cantina and taco bar” doesn’t look like any of their other bars, and the menu (which focuses on tequila, mezcal, Mexican beer and tacos) is new for the group, too. On the other hand, Division and Damen is looking more and more like Division and State, so Eat Well may have just found its new target market. 1721 W Division St between Paulina St and Hermitage Ave (773-227-7772).

Not good. Food bland. Drinks weak. Cool decor though and a great outdoor spot to drink if they had better drinks.
