Bistro Campagne (4518 N Lincoln Ave, 773-271-6100) Gone is this patio’s lush garden setting, and in its place are linen-draped tables and green patio chairs surrounding a new brick coach house. Luckily, the Belgian beer list and classic bistro food remain, which make up for any redesign letdown. —Heather Shouse
Brasserie Ruhlmann SteakHouse (500 W Superior St, 312-494-1900) Chef Christian Delouvrier will be damned if his decadent duck rillettes and tender steak au poivre don’t remind you of your favorite Paris bistro—at least more so than the patio’s overdone Frenchie decor, including green-and-yellow wicker banquettes and a swooping red awning. —Heather Shouse
Fulton’s on the River (315 N LaSalle St, 312-822-0100) There is nothing quite as quintessentially Chicago as seeing our sprawling skyline lit up on a summer night. But in this meat-and-potatoes town, a good steak is pretty iconic, too. Which wins? Take a seat at this riverside patio, order one of the impeccable rib eyes and see which one grabs your attention more. —David Tamarkin
