    Time Out Chicago / Issue 167 : May 8–14, 2008
    Alfresco eating & drinking

    Best view of...the action

These outdoor spots capture people-watching at its prime, whether you’re glimpsing indie rockers in Logan Square or glitterati on the Mag Mile.

    OTHER FAVORITES
Bin Wine Café (1559 N Milwaukee Ave, 773-486-2233) The sidewalk patio at this approachable wine bar will be the best spot this summer for watching past and present residents collide. Can the Myopic and Reckless regulars stand their ground as more Levi’s/Urban Outfitters devotees descend? Grab a table and a wine glass to find out. —Heather Shouse

Murphy’s Bleachers (3655 N Sheffield Ave, 773-281-5356) The closest you can get to the pre–Cubs game hullabaloo while clutching a brew is this bar’s cattle-pen patio across from the ballpark. The waist-level fence allows you to buy knickknacks from street vendors, scalp extra tickets and even heckle the other team’s fans as they pass by. —Jake Malooley

RL (115 E Chicago Ave, 312-475-1100) Turns out those Aryans on horses you see in all those Ralph Lauren ads actually exist. From this sidewalk seating area you can watch them tuck their oversize sunglasses into their perfectly coiffed manes, pick at their Cobb salads, polish off a third sidecar and compare notes on last night’s gala. —David Tamarkin
