    Time Out Chicago / Issue 167 : May 8–14, 2008
    Alfresco eating & drinking

    Best view of...stupid human tricks

In a realm where cargo shorts and flip-flops go hand-in-hand with chug challenges and catcalling, the parade of loutish behavior on these otherwise pleasant patios is a sight to behold.

    OTHER FAVORITES
Butch McGuire’s (20 W Division St, 312-337-9080) “Hey bro, that’s the chick we just saw dancing on the bar at Bar Chicago! I’m so headin’ for fresh meat out back on the patio. There’s a separate bar in back, so we can just get our Jager bombs and Bud Lights out there—let’s arm wrestle to see who pays.” —Heather Shouse

Cans (1640 N Damen Ave, 773-227-2277) Drink enough PBR tall boys here, and you too may believe you have the skills to belch the words to “Who Let the Dogs Out?”; or that stabbing your beer-can top open with a key is the way to woo ladies, even those wearing veils and/or inflatable penises on their heads. —Heather Shouse

Grand Central (950 W Wrightwood Ave, 773-832-4000) The public-transportation theme at this Lincoln Park staple is not limited to the decor. Drinking on the sidewalk café, one of the few in the area, is a lot like waiting on an El platform: The later it gets, the drunker, louder and more susceptible your fellow travelers become to belting out Maroon 5 tunes. —David Tamarkin
