    Time Out Chicago / Issue 167 : May 8–14, 2008
    Just opened

    Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort

    Photo: Jeremy Bolen

LIVING LARGE True story: We recently got on the phone with a man who would only identify himself as the spokesman for a guy named Uncle Fatty. Turns out the portly uncle wanted to get the word out about his bar, Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort. “We don’t call it a bar,” the spokesman explained. “We call it a resort.” Why? “That’s what Uncle Fatty wanted.” As bizarre as it sounds, the Rum Resort will open this week in the old Cherry Red space, and there will be a sandbox, piña coladas, beer-based margaritas and lots of tiki kitsch—everything but the main attraction. That’s right: As the spokesman was careful to point out, Uncle Fatty himself will be sight unseen. 2833 N Sheffield Ave at Wolfram St (773-477-3661).

Everything about this bar puts a smile on my face. The name, the space, the people, etc. I can see this place lasting a long time. The staff was great, and super friendly, my boyfriend played that basketball game for like 4 hours, my friends were dancing on stage with the band, we had a spring break type of time! I recommend this place to everyone!

WOW...........WOW.......WOW.......SUPER FUN! I have not had that much fun at a bar in like 5 years. I was there on the grand opening and I have not stop talking about it since. I booked my 26th bday party there next month.. and I am forcing my friends to do the same. For the first time ever their was a bar were everyone was smiling and having a good time, oh and their frozen drinks are super yummmmie!
