Monday
Start your week unfettered by relieving your aches and pains with complimentary acupuncture at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine (909 W Montrose Ave, suite 201, 773-975-1295) from 1–8pm. (Also available Tuesday and Thursday, or Wednesday or Friday from 1–3pm.) No appointments are necessary.
Tuesday
Saying it costs too much moolah is no longer an excuse for not going to the gym—at least on Tuesdays. Crunch gym has just introduced Summer happy hour, where anyone can pop in for a free workout or group classes from 6–9pm each Tuesday (through the end of August) at all of the gym’s locations. To make this deal feel even more like a party, DJs spin live. Visit crunch.com/happyhour for locations and more information.
Wednesday
Sure, we’ve all heard about the mani and martini nights around town since Carrie Bradshaw became a household name, but far fewer of us have actually taken advantage of those ladies’ nights. Drop by D.O.C. Wine Bar (2602 N Clark St, 773-883-5101, docwinebarchicago.com) the first Wednesday of every month from 7–10pm for a cover-free night (courtesy of Sheque Chicago) of complimentary manis and chair massages.
Thursday
Ever since Thursday night became the new Friday, you’ve had to add an extra night of primping to your beauty regimen. Let Benefit (locations around the city) do the work for you. After you’ve paid $18 for the perfect arch at the Brow Bar, a beauty artist leads you through a five-minute complimentary mini makeup lesson. Best of all, you’ll walk out 20 minutes later with your face set for the night’s festivities. This offer is available any day of the week.
Friday
The week might have sapped your energy reserves, but a Fresh facial (111 N State St, 312-781-1000) will certainly revive you. The aesthetician whisks you away into a candle-lit back room for 45 minutes, treating your skin to a bevy of Fresh products. And it’s all no strings attached: You don’t have to pay a penny for a product (unless you want to). Aim to book an appointment one week in advance. The spa is open every Wednesday and Thursday from 10am–7pm plus Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays each month (dates vary).
Saturday
It’s quite all right if you have commitment issues when it comes to shopping at Sephora. The store (520 N Michigan Ave, 312-494-9598; 845 N Michigan Ave, 312-335-9391) provides mini samples of any available product (think Marc Jacobs perfume and Bare Escentuals foundation) every day of the week. If you simply don’t know where to start, call ahead to set up a 30-minute consultation with an expert. Don’t forget to snag a free Beauty Insider card; the shop comps cardholders with a sweet treat like cake-scented body wash during your birthday month.
Sunday
Wind down your week with a community yoga class at Moksha’s relaxing and airy Lakeview location (3334 N Clark St, 773-975-9642)—the Riverwest outpost (700 N Carpenter St, 312-942-9642) hosts the same class on Saturday from 4–5:30pm—led by one of a handful of teachers or teachers-in-training at the studio. The hour-and-a-half class typically caters to students of all levels, with hatha and vinyasa styles. Best to show up a half-hour early to ensure a spot; they’ll provide the mat.
