Chicago's one of the most romantic cities in the world, there's no denying that. But as our doe-eyed friends gaze lovingly at each other, it's always a good time for the single crowd to reflect on how much easier certain aspects of Chicago living are when you're flying solo.

1. You can see the bands you want to see at summer music festivals. No need to compromise on headliners at Riot Fest.

2. You don't have to worry about getting two seats together on the Brown Line. Those single seats were made for you.

3. You can make your way through State Street shopping crowds way easier. And let's face it, those people walking hand-in-hand down State are soooo annoying.

4. You can spend an afternoon at the Art Institute at your own pace, whether that means hitting as many halls as possible or lingering in the Modern Wing.

5. You can ride your bike in peace without looking back to make sure your significant other hasn't been doored.

6. You're more likely to score the last spot on the Half Acre Brewery Tour because you aren't hindered by needing two tickets.

7. You get to eat more than a couple bites of all the best dishes at Taste of Chicago.

8. You can get your hands on last-minute theater tickets. You know what's always left? One ticket.

9. You can always find one Divvy to ride, but two? Not so lucky in the Loop during the summer.

10. GrubHub spending minimums mean you always get two meals instead of one.

11. You don't have another set of parents to entertain with tourist traps when they come to town. We're looking at you, The Bean.

12. You're a lot more likely to be able to snag a seat at the bar instead of waiting two hours to eat at the city's hottest restaurants.

13. You don't have to share when you snag the last hot, fresh doughnut from Doughnut Vault.
