Celebrate Labor Day with special food & drink events

It's nearly fall, which means we should send summer off appropriately by relaxing on a patio or rooftop bar and eating and drinking. Spend Labor Day in the most delicious way possible, with these food and drink events.

Big Star: Justin Carlisle (chef at Milwaukee's Ardent & James Beard Best Chef Midwest finalist) will be heading down to man the grill with Tom Van Lente (Big Star) and Dennis Bernard (Dove's Luncheonette). From 1-4pm on Labor Day, join the three chefs as they prepare a special menu for the day, including charred summer sausage, grilled huarache and short rib.

City Winery: For its fourth annual Bubbly-Q, City Winery features bands, a barbecue and champagne from 2-9pm on Monday, September 7. An admission of $15 gets you in the door for a limited-edition taste of the red, white and blue Chandon champagne. Barbecue will come from Mr. B's BBQ, with a whole pig roast and other selections, such as sliders and whoopie pies.

The Dawson: It's time for the Dawson's final City Limits event with music from the Girls of the Golden West and Big Sadie on Sunday, September 6 from 4-7pm. Join them on the patio, where staff will be serving mai tais and peel and eat shrimp.

Division Ale House: Division Ale House will open early at 11am on Labor Day and serve its full menu, with happy hour specials from 6-9pm.

Longman & Eagle:Longman & Eagle hosts its annual end of summer block party outside the restaurant. On Sunday, September 6, chef Matt Kerney serves up sausages and elotes, and bar manager Phil Olson pours draft cocktails. Enjoy DJs playing all day, shopping from the Bus Shop and crafts and games for kids.

Nico Osteria: On Labor Day proper, head to Nico Osteria for brunch from 9am-4:30pm. Head bartender Matty Eggleston will debut a new late summer cocktail menu on the 7th, including his Blackberry Bunga Bunga, a mixture of gin, sous vide blackberries and spices available by the glass or pitcher.

Publican Quality Meats: PQM offers Labor Day brunch from 10am-3:30pm, which includes a punch featuring blackberries, lime and verjus.

Shake Shack: From Friday through Monday, enjoy Shack Corn Dogs made with Vienna hot dogs and and served with sweet corn relish ($4.50) or a Peach Pie Oh My concrete made with vanilla custard and pie made at the Shack (Single-$4.25 or Double-$6.75).
