Disney Theatricals and Broadway in Chicago said this morning that the stage adaptation of Aladdin will launch a national tour in Chicago in April 2017.
The musical adaptation of the 1992 animated film, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, was nominated for five 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Aladdin will play 12 weeks at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, from April 11 to July 2, 2017. Future stops for the tour have yet to be announced.
