For Blue Line commuters, especially those who live in Logan Square, Bucktown and Wicker Park, the last few months have been a little inconvenient. The closure of the California Blue Line station in September and October and the continuing closure of the Damen station have added a few minutes to the morning and evening commutes and made it more difficult to patronize businesses located near the affected train stops. Thankfully, there's a light at the end of the congested subway tunnel: the Wicker Park station will be reopening on December 22.

To celebrate the reopening of the Damen station, several Wicker Park businesses will be offering free treats to welcome back CTA riders.

  • Flash Taco will give away free chicken, pork and veggie tamales on Dec 22, 23 and 24 from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm each day.
  • Glazed & Infused will offer a free doughnut and a large coffee to anyone who displays their Ventra card on Dec 22–24.
  • La Colombe will give a free drip coffee to anyone who displays a Ventra card from Dec 22–28.
  • Stan's Donuts will offer a free glazed doughnut and a 12-ounce coffee to anyone who displays a Ventra card on Dec 22 and 23.

Go ahead and eat an extra doughnut (or two) on the way to the office. After 63 days without the Wicker Park Blue Line station, you deserve it.
