Navy Pier announces surprise fireworks show

Just because the weather doesn't feel like summer doesn't mean we can't shoot rockets into the sky. Tonight at 9:30pm, you can make your way down to Navy Pier for a "pre-season" fireworks show. Chicago's tackiest tourist trap normally runs its summertime pyrotechnics operation on Wednesday and Saturday nights between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This year's early debut will be the first of the sort in Navy Pier's history.

Tonight's forecast projects temperatures in the low 40s, so bundle up those little tikes before taking them out to go see the "sky go booms." If you happen to be fortunate enough to live in a lake-facing Streeterville apartment, can we come over?

We're, like, cultured.
