While work continues on the construction of a brand-new, nearly 200-foot-tall Ferris wheel at Navy Pier, the destination's former spinning attraction is getting a new home. According to a report from the Tribunethe Navy Pier's former Ferris wheel will be reconstructed at the Track Family Fun Parks in Branson, Missouri later this year. The wheel originally debuted at the Pier in 1995 and is modeled after the Ferris wheel that was built for the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition.

The attraction's move to Branson makes perfect sense—the Missouri city is a tourist destination best known for its theaters, theme parks and museums. Considering that tens of thousands of tourists have already taken a ride on the wheel when it resided at Navy Pier, it should be able to handle a few more rounds. No word yet on whether the deep-dish pizza tribute to the Ferris wheel will also make the trip to Branson.
