The three best things to do in Chicago today

1. Get jazzy with the otters at Shedd

Take the midweek load off with Shedd's weekly jazz concert series, Jazzin' at the Shedd. Relax on the lakeside terrace with cocktails and rotating jazz bands or take advantage of the aquarium's extended hours and enjoy some of the most popular exhibits like "Stingray Touch," included in the ticket price. (Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S Lake Shore Dr, 5-8pm. $20, $18 online)

2. Third wheel it with your favorite couple at iO

Spend your Wednesday night with veteran performers (and improv gods) TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi as they take iO's Mission Theater and perform, what else, TJ & Dave. Anyone who's seen this equally astonishing and hilarious hour-long, two-man improvised show already knows why it's considered one of the best in Chicago. For anyone new to the city's improv scene, this show is the perfect way to dive in. Don't be surprised if one of the dynamic duo is absent, you'll be in Tony award-winning hands with actor and playwright Tracy Letts subbing in. (iO Mission Theater, 1501 N Kingsbury St, 10:30pm. $10)

3. Get Art-sy in Ukrainian Village

There's still a couple days left to discover what happened to the man behind that iconic bow-tied bunny. Chicago artist Art Paul is best known as the founding art director of Playboy magazine, but "Hard Heads, Sweet Knees, Forked Tongues" exhibits Paul's other talents as an artist and focuses on his lengthy post-Playboy career. Drawing mostly from his "Head" period, the collection at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art showcases his vibrant portraits, abstract works and experimental illustrations streaked with satire and humor. (Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, 2320 W Chicago Ave, noon-4pm. Free)
