A Place to Bury Strangers + Grooms + Running

September 29, Empty Bottle
Brooklyn noise rockers A Place to Bury Strangers are serious about making music that leaves your ears ringing. Early in their career, the group embraced the title of "loudest band in New York," forming a guitar pedal manufacturing company called Death By Audio that creates the extreme distortion devices that still characterize its quasi-industrial, shoegazing sound. Make sure to wear your earplugs and arrive early to catch the woozy guitar melodies of Grooms and the scuzzy punk rock of Running. ($14, 21+)

Laetitia Sadier + Deradoorian

September 30, Schubas
Celebrated avant-pop band Stereolab has been on indefinite hiatus since 2009, but lead vocalist Laetitia Sadier has maintained a prolific solo career in the ensuing years. Her latest album, Something Shines, is a shimmering collection of understated pop songs overseen by the French musician's unmistakable voice. Former Dirty Projectors collaborator Angel Deradoorian opens the show, touring behind her harmony-ridden solo debut The Expanding Flower Planet($15, 21+)

Ghost + Purson

October 3, Riviera Theatre
Remember the Kuma's Corner burger that featured a red wine reduction and an unconsecrated communion wafer? It was named after Ghost, a theatrical Swedish metal act fronted by a vocalist who dresses up as a skeletal Pope named Papa Emeritus and is backed by instrumentalists known only as Nameless Ghouls. Currently in the midst of its Black to the Future, the group comes to the Riviera Theatre armed with heavy prog-rock riffs from its latest album, Meliora, proving that demonic music doesn't have to be dark and depressing. London psych rockers Purson open the show. (Sold out, 18+)
