June 17 and 18 at the [node:152015 link=UIC Theatre;], Hubbard Street Dance Chicago presented 19 new works made in-house at its annual showcase, “Inside/Out.” Among those onstage were Taryn Kaschock Russell and Terence Marling, both former HSDC dancers, now artistic associates and rehearsal directors. (Russell also directs the junior company, Hubbard Street 2.)

For their creations, the dancers chose music ranging from Bach and Bizet to Animal Collective and Four Tet; all were designed by lighting director Matt Miller, who emceed the evening (and gave a few surprise performances himself). None of the works were made available for review—including PACOPEPEPLUTO, a suite of male solos by choreographer-in-residence [node:127440 link=Alejandro Cerrudo;]—but you can catch some in encore on Friday, June 24 from 6–7:30pm at last year’s “Inside/Out” venue, Griffin Court at the Art Institute of Chicago.

[node:14702027 link=As announced in April;], Hubbard Street will present its first danc(e)volve: New Works Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art from January 19–29, 2012, which will feature a few “Inside/Out” dances selected for further development.
