Description
This evening of two one-person shows tells two tales—one biographical, one not—about the search for companionship. The Sound of One Hanna Clapping, Hanna LoPatin's attempt to reconcile her childhood dreams of stardom with her lackluster reality at 26, takes you through home movies of grade-school performances, a whip-smart analysis of her ill-fated love life (“I'm looking for a man that's Jewish, but not too Jewish”) and a reenactment of a soul-peddling audition for Comedy Central. In Dingbat, Nancy Friedrich displays a significant knack for playing frenzied females, from a mousey librarian with a fondness for the term douche bag to a divorced public-television dream-interpreter.
