Known in comedy circles for her open-mike performances of Mama Truth—a flirtatious, crowd-working, pansexual performance art-eest—King exposes more of herself during her latest one-woman jaunt. Video and audio chats with King's own small-town Texas parents (about the idea that someone can be good crazy or bad crazy) join monologues from Mama Truth and two others: an ex-gay evangelist and a lustless partygoer. Like that of her peers, King's art of course reflects life, but her inspired storytelling breaks away from the bunch with unabashed honesty about the Big Life Decisions she's had thrown at her all at once. This finely crafted show puts all her previous work into perspective; truly, it's a multishow callback.
