Description
Griffin Rodriguez leads the unclassifiable Icy Demons through everything from feel-good sambas to booty-shaking beat-hustling on the new Miami Ice (Obey Your Brain). Their thoughtful loft jams are loaded with synth hysterics and hyper-rhythmic interplay. The genre-hopping fellow locals Bird Names specialize in quirky psych-folk that's strangely fluid, considering how choppy its elements are (odd choruses accompanied by keyboards, tuba and whatever else happens to be lying around). Their new Open Relationship is like a lo-fi space luau for fans of Animal Collective.
