Head Of Femur + The Heavenly States + The Poison Control Center
Description
Okay, so sometimes regurgitating the bio is irresistible: San Francisco's Heavenly States boasts of being the first rock band to tour Libya, and a film based on the band's adventures is reportedly somewhere in the pipes. As for the music itself, it's not nearly as exotic, but its loopy fusion of hip-hop, indie-pop and trance psychedelic isn't exactly radio fodder. Head of Femur needs to squeeze two dozen musicians on stage to faithfully replicate what it does on record. But the group's best-kept secret is pulling off its tricky pop tunes even as a pared-down unit. Tonight celebrates the release of its third album, Great Plains, which seals Wilco's AM-radio charm in a yellow submarine.
