David Tamarkin
EAT OUT/DRINK UP SENIOR WRITER
COVERS: Restaurants, bars, wine/beer/spirits, specialty-food retail, grocery stores, farmers'
markets, cooking classes, food-and wine-related events.
Tamarkin has worked as a features producer for CBS News and as a writer and researcher at Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, where he sealed the fate of countless needy straight men. But all of that was merely to support his food-writing career. He wrote his first restaurant review for Time Out New York in 2000 and hasn't stopped eating (or writing) since. Having indulged himself at (almost) every restaurant in New York, he was eager to take on Chicago. He only hopes that Chicago chefs can cook fast enough to keep up with him.
Ask me about: Wine snobs, South Side burger stands, cheap alternatives to Champagne, local cheese and why everything tastes better when it's deep-fried.
