Haim at Riviera Theatre

Last night at the Riviera Theatre, Alana told the audience about throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game the previous day, Este described her most recent April Fools prank and Danielle repeatedly demonstrated how well she can shred. The Haim sisters seemed genuinely giddy about being Chicago again, playing in front of a crowd that was equally enthusiastic about welcoming the trio back to the city. The reaction wasn't exactly surprising, judging by how quickly the show sold out—once when it was announced at the Vic and again when it was moved to the more spacious Riv.  

None of the excitement was wasted on Haim, who dove headfirst into a set dominated by tunes from its debut LP, Days Are Gone. The taught harmonies of "Falling" and cascading rhythms of "If I Could Change Your Mind" proved that the group has only gotten tighter since its performances during Lollapalooza last year. A rousing cover of Beyoncé's "XO" and plenty of Este's infamous bass face rounded off an evening that started off strong and never seemed to slow down.
