Givers, a quintet from Lafayette, LA, have captured a sound best described as swamp pop: polyrhythmic percussion, astutely repeated hooks, zingy guitar fills, call-and-response vocals in which words begin properly and end in indigenous yelps, and exotic rhythms that can incite a room full of hipsters to do the jitterbug (or an interpretation of it, anyways). This is celebratory music suited for a Mardi Gras party, but these musicians aren’t just happy—they’re also very, very good. Eau Claire folk rock outfit Aero Flynn open the show.
