Singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield released her latest Waxahatchee album, St. Cloud, just as the world was beginning to shut down in 2020, lending some extra weight to her soul-searching tales. Written in the months following her decision to get sober, the record's delicate folk rock arrangements are overseen by engaging narratives that confront specters of Crutchfield's past while turning a hopeful eye to a more fufilling future. It was a fitting record to listen to at a time when so many of us were forced to spend more time with our thoughts and engage in a bit of self-reflection—but the album's melodies and sentiment still hold up years removed from those solitary days. Seasoned Nashville songwriter Madi Diaz opens the show.
