Seun Kuti had large shoes to fill, possibly the largest in all of African music, but the son of Fela has deftly upheld his father's legacy, fronting the sprawling grove legend Egypt 80. The funk traditionalist has slightly, tastefully updated Afrobeat by enlisting tape heads like Brian Eno to produce, though his latest, A Long Way to the Beginning, sticks to impeccable polyrhythms. Opening is Honduras' soulful Aurelio Martinez. If you have to see just one World Music Fest gig, this is it.
