Description
At first glance, this relatively new storefront might seem like just another Chinese takeout spot with a lo mein–lined steam table. But a closer look reveals that the Laotian owners mix in close to a dozen specialties of their homeland. The casual counter-ordering system means you can point and shoot, but trust us and get both the beef and pork sausages (the red-hued plump ones are tart from mild fermenting); the tangy, crispy rice salad (nam sod); the crimson chicken curry; and the sweetish, soy-rich stew of hard-boiled eggs, tofu and pork belly (pa lo). Bring a bottle of pinot noir to match, or try smoothies made with tropical fruits like sapote, which has a custardy sweet flavor.

  I'm Laotian myself so to know that there's a place where I can run and get home-style cooking in the city is great! First off the waiter was great and attentive. It's a small eatery so don't expect any blingin, specially the plates and silverware. I ordered a typical laotian dinner, pork sausage, papaya salad & sticky rice. Salad could've been less sweeter as I like mine on the sour side. Sausage was ok, kinda dry and not as juicy as I'm used to. Going back to try their noodle dishes.
